Zaidon is an artwork of a baby camel that perfectly represents ZADK’s journey and mission. Starting from the first millennium BC, the camel was the emblem of the Arab people and trade through the Arabian Peninsula. Camels played an important role in ancient Arab commercial history by way of their unique qualities which serve as a reliable means of transportation in the harsh desert environment. Camels were credited with breaking isolation from the Arabian Peninsula, from which trade routes developed to transport foodstuffs and recipes from the Arabian Peninsula to the world, and vice-versa. From here, authentic dishes were born at the hands of our grandfathers and grandmothers, marrying the flavors of the world – using the best spices carried by the Zaidon ancestors – with the flavors of the history of the Arabian Peninsula. To pay tribute to the central role of camels in Saudi culture, the Ministry of Culture has designated the Year 2024 to be the Year of the Camel. Today, through our students, we will take you on a creative and innovative tasting journey with Zaidon, to preserve the authentic flavors of Saudi cuisine and present them in a modern concept.
